01Acceptance
These Terms govern your use of coinmarketcal.com, the public API, the developer dashboard, communications, paid features, and ad placements (the Service), operated by CoinMarketCal SARL. By using the Service you agree to these Terms; if you're acting for a company, you confirm you can bind it. You must be 18+ and able to enter a binding contract.
API and developer-dashboard use are also governed by the API Terms of Service, which prevail for API conflicts.
02The Service
CoinMarketCal lists crypto-asset events with editorial context, scoring, and source proof for informational purposes only. We do not provide trading, brokerage, custody, or execution services, and we do not hold user funds.
We may modify, suspend, or discontinue any part of the Service at any time, including endpoints, pricing, data fields, and scoring methodology.
Paid coverage is an annual service that adds a coin to monitoring. It does not buy publication, wording, ranking, scoring, or removal of unflattering coverage.
Ads and sponsorships are labeled and separate from editorial. Paid placements never affect whether an event is included, scored, ranked, or removed.
03Accounts and security
You're responsible for keeping passwords and API keys confidential and for all activity under your account. Notify us at contact@coinmarketcal.com if a credential may have been compromised. We may revoke any credential we believe is compromised or being misused.
04Acceptable use
You must not:
- break the law or third-party rights;
- impersonate any person or entity;
- interfere with the Service or attempt unauthorized access;
- introduce malicious code;
- create unreasonable load or scrape the Service outside the API Terms;
- use the Service or its content to train, fine-tune, evaluate, or build datasets for any machine-learning, large-language, or embedding model, without our prior written consent.
The AI/ML restriction applies to the website and the API.
05No investment advice
The Service is informational. Nothing on it is investment, trading, financial, legal, or tax advice. Crypto markets are volatile; do your own research. Decisions you make based on the Service are your responsibility.
06Intellectual property
The Service, content, scores, rankings, and curated metadata are owned by or licensed to CoinMarketCal. We grant you a limited, non-exclusive, revocable license to view content for personal or internal business use. You may not redistribute, scrape, or build derivative datasets except as the API Terms allow.
The CoinMarketCal name and logo are trademarks. Don't use them without written consent.
07Disclaimers
The Service is provided as is and as available, without warranties of any kind, whether express, implied, or statutory, including merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose, title, and non-infringement. We don't warrant that the Service will be accurate, complete, current, uninterrupted, or error-free. Event timing, scoring, and metadata are produced by automated and editorial processes and may contain errors.
Third-party links and ads are not endorsements; transactions with advertisers are solely between you and them.
08Limitation of liability
Nothing here excludes liability that can't be excluded under applicable law (fraud, gross negligence, death or personal injury caused by negligence).
To the maximum extent permitted by law, CoinMarketCal and its affiliates will not be liable for:
- loss of profits, revenues, business, goodwill, data, or anticipated savings;
- trading or investment losses, however caused;
- indirect, incidental, special, consequential, or punitive damages.
Our total aggregate liability arising from these Terms or your use of the Service will not exceed the greater of (i) EUR 100 or (ii) the fees you paid us in the twelve (12) months before the event giving rise to the claim.
09Indemnity
You agree to indemnify CoinMarketCal and its affiliates against claims, damages, and reasonable legal fees arising from your use of the Service, your breach of these Terms or the API Terms, or your infringement of third-party rights.
10Termination and changes
We may suspend or terminate your access at any time if you breach these Terms or the API Terms, or if your use risks the security of the Service. You can stop using the Service anytime; for a Developer Account, request closure at contact@coinmarketcal.com. Sections 04, 05, 06, 07, 08, 09, 12, and 13 survive termination.
We may revise these Terms; significant changes get a service notice. Continued use after the changes take effect means you accept them.
11Force majeure
Neither party is liable for delays or failures in performance caused by events beyond reasonable control, including natural disaster, war, terrorism, civil disorder, pandemic, internet or telecommunications outages, third-party provider failures, regulatory action, or government order. The affected party will use reasonable efforts to resume performance.
12Governing law and notices
These Terms are governed by the laws of France. The courts of Paris have exclusive jurisdiction for disputes between businesses. EU consumers keep mandatory rights under their local law and may bring proceedings in their country of residence.

13Miscellaneous
Severability. If any provision of these Terms is held invalid or unenforceable, the remaining provisions remain in full effect.
No waiver. Failure to enforce any right or provision is not a waiver of that right or provision.
Assignment. You may not assign or transfer these Terms or any rights under them without our prior written consent. We may assign these Terms, including in connection with a merger, acquisition, or sale of assets.
Entire agreement. These Terms, together with the API Terms and Privacy policy, are the entire agreement between you and us regarding the Service and supersede any prior agreements on this subject.
